Ethics Policy

Publication and authorship

The Revista Perspectiva Empresarial is a peer-reviewed academic publication that publishes articles that address economic and financial issues, whether they are scientific research, original reflections or reviews.

The Journal does not accept previously published material or that is being considered in another publication. Authors must ensure that the data has been obtained ethically, in addition to obtaining permission to reproduce the material in other publications and to cite its source correctly. The Journal is not responsible for the opinions expressed by the authors. Also, the authors must strictly follow the editorial norms for the publication of their works.

Authors may reproduce their work in other publications by previously requesting authorization from the Editor, clearly indicating the data of the original publication. The Journal reserves the rights of printing, total or partial reproduction of the material, as well as the right to accept or reject it. It also reserves the right to make any editorial changes it deems appropriate.

Finally, and in order to avoid inbreeding, bad practices in scientific publishing and promote open access to knowledge and the principle of transparency and good editorial practices, all RPE authors must wait one semester to resubmit an article for possible publication; with the exception of the “Letters to the Editor,” which have a permanent call.

Code of ethics

The Journal adheres to ethical standards with the purpose of guiding the authors, the Editor and academic peers in the performance of their duties.

The Journal bases its code of ethics on the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

The Journal agrees and signs the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).

The Journal verifies the originality of each document through CrossCheck.

Where relevant, an explanation of the procedures followed in the investigation will be included in order to ensure compliance with the principles and ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki of 1975.

Also, all articles published in the Journal are subject to compliance with the ethical principles contained in the different declarations and laws on intellectual property and copyright. Based on this, the Journal is guided by national and international regulations on intellectual property and copyright in order to avoid cases of falsification, omission of data and plagiarism, which are understood as follows: falsification results when the data is manipulated fraudulently by the authors; the omission arises when the authors deliberately conceal data, and plagiarism when an author presents as own data created by others without their due recognition.

The Editor, the Editorial Committee, the technical and support team, as well as the peer reviewers are aware of their duties in the entire editing process of the Journal through the recognition of each of their ethical responsibilities. In addition, the Journal guarantees that the content published is ethically sound.

Finally, if after an article is published it is discovered that it does not comply with any of the proposed ethical policies, the Journal will take the necessary measures according to the guidelines established by the COPE.

Copyright

The procedures regarding the copyright policy are described in the “Letter of assignment of rights,” which the authors must accept and sign at the time they send the article to the Journal. Only persons who have contributed intellectually to the structure and construction of the article should appear as the author.

To be listed as an author, the following requirements must be met: Authors must ensure that they have written the entire article; authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design and execution of research; those who have made significant contributions must appear as co-authors; Authors must ensure that they have approved the final version of the article and have agreed to its presentation for publication from the beginning of the process in the Journal.

Duties of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism: All articles must be the original work of authors and not evidence plagiarism.

Acknowledgement of sources: If the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication: Authors must not submit the same article to more than one journal concurrently.

Access and retention: If the Editor or members of the Editorial Committee consider it appropriate, the authors of the articles must also make available the sources or data on which the research is based, which may be kept for a reasonable period of time after of the publication and possibly made accessible.

Duties of the Editor

Publication decisions: The Editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the Journal should be published. The publication decision should be guided by the policies of the Journal Editorial Board, and should be base exclusively on the academic merit and the decision of the academic peers.

Honesty: An Editor should evaluate articles for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality: The Editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted article to anyone other than the corresponding author, academic peers, potential evaluators, editorial advisers, as appropriate.

Duties of academic peers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists the editors in making editorial decisions.

Promptness: Any selected peer who feels unqualified or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the Editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality: Any articles received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to, or discussed with others except as authorized by the Editor.

Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Peers should express their views clearly with arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources: Peers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A peer should also call to the Editor attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Conflict of Interest

The Journal expects the authors to declare any business association that could potentially involve a conflict of interest. The Journal tries to guarantee that all the articles that are published are as objective as possible. Since it can be difficult to distinguish between a real conflict of interest and a perceived conflict of interest, the Journal requires authors to make an effort to identify them.

The authors must certify that they do not have a conflict of interest derived from financial, patrimonial interests or personal or professional relationships that may affect the investigation of the article or the publishing institution. They must also specify the source of funding for the research to be published.

Retraction policy

The Journal’s policy is not to alter or eliminate the published scientific record, under the interest that the articles should remain unchanged as far as possible. The Journal responds to suggestions of scientific and ethical misconduct or to convincing evidence that the published data is wrong. This may require the publication of a retraction or formal correction.

Corrections of problems that do not significantly affect the reader's understanding, such as por example spelling or citation errors, will not be published. The correction is free and is linked to the article that corrects.

The amendments requested to the Journal are divided in errata, corrections and retractions or addenda.

Errata (erratum)

An erratum applies only to cases where the Journal introduces errors without the knowledge of the author during the editing process. The author has a series of cases where errors can and should be corrected such as the name of the author, email, keywords, title, significant typographical errors, errors in numbers of figures or tables or their legends, proof corrections sent but not included in the article during editing.

Corrections

The corrections are requested from the Editor when the authors detect errors after the publication of the article that compromises the validity of the scientific content and its reproducibility. The corrections are judged by their relevance to the readers and their importance to the published record. The correction

are judged according to whether the main conclusion of the article is no longer maintained or is seriously undermined as a result of the subsequent information that the authors do not know at the time of publication.

If readers detect a significant error in any document, they are asked to send their comments as “Letter to the editor.” These articles sent as “Letter to the editor” will be reviewed by two academic peers and will also be sent to the original authors for comments. The “Letter to the editor” and the comments of the original authors will be published in the same number.

Retractions

Retractions are published if the Editor has clear evidence that the published data is unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (for example, data fabrication or plagiarism) or an honest error (for example, calculation error). In the event of a retraction, the registration article will have a digital watermark with the word ‘Retracted’.

Privacy statement

The Journal uses the names of the authors and emails for the established academic purposes and will not be provided to third parties for other purposes. The journal authorizes article and texts photocopying for academic purposes or for internal purposes in the institutions with the appropriate citation of the source.

The only types of announcements that are considered are those referring to other scientific publications and academic and research events, these announcements will only be accepted by both the Editor and the Editorial Committee after reviewing the established requirements. Therefore, editorial decisions are completely independent of the advertising content that is published.
